SNORING

Recording your own snoring on iPhone

Most snoring apps either score your night with a number they cannot honestly produce, or keep the whole recording somewhere you cannot see. SleepMemo does neither.

Why a sleep score is the wrong output

A microphone on a bedside table hears sound. It does not measure sleep stages, oxygen saturation, or airway obstruction, and no amount of processing turns a recording into a clinically meaningful sleep quality figure.

SleepMemo deliberately produces no score, grade or number. What it gives you is the evidence: short clips of the moments where something audible happened, which you can listen to and judge yourself.

What the app keeps, and what it throws away

The full-night file is deleted once the moments have been extracted. A night where nothing happened keeps no audio at all, which is both the privacy-preserving choice and the reason the diary stays small enough to actually review.

Each clip arrives with a guess at what it was — snoring, coughing, speech, or something else in the room. Those guesses are worked out by the phone itself, they are often wrong, and every one of them can be corrected or cleared by you.

Seeing a pattern over several nights

One night tells you very little. Sound Rhythm sets recent nights beside each other so a pattern can surface on its own: the week the coughing started, the nights that fall quiet after a late meal.

This is descriptive, not diagnostic. It shows you what was audible, which is a useful thing to bring to a clinician and not a substitute for seeing one.

Questions

How can I tell if I snore when I sleep alone?

Record a few nights and listen to the clips. SleepMemo keeps short moments rather than the full recording, so reviewing a night takes minutes rather than hours.

Does the app diagnose sleep apnea?

No. It is not a medical device and cannot diagnose sleep apnea, breathing disorders or any health condition. Speak with a qualified clinician if you are concerned.

Is the snoring detection accurate?

The suggestions are worked out on the phone and are often wrong. Every label can be corrected or cleared by you, and the audio itself is what you should trust.

Does my bedroom audio leave the phone?

No. There is no sign-in, nothing is uploaded, and no recording of yours exists in any database the developer can reach.

Before you rely on any of this

Sleep Recorder is a personal audio diary. It does not measure sleep quality and is not a medical device. It cannot diagnose sleep apnea, breathing disorders or any health condition, and its sound suggestions can be wrong. If you are worried about your sleep or your breathing, speak with a qualified clinician.
