The scrubbing problem
Recording a full night is trivial; any voice memo app does it. The reason people give up is the morning after, when finding forty seconds of speech inside eight hours means scrubbing a waveform with no idea what you are looking for.
SleepMemo does the scrubbing, then throws the eight hours away. What is left is a few minutes worth listening to instead of a few hours you never will.
Labels you can correct
Each clip carries a suggestion: snoring, coughing, speech, or something else in the room. The suggestion is produced by the phone itself and is frequently wrong, particularly where a partner, a pet or a passing vehicle is involved.
Every label can be corrected or cleared. Nothing is scored, graded or turned into a sleep quality number, because a recording cannot honestly produce one.
Why bedroom audio deserves the strictest handling
Bedroom audio is about the most private recording a person makes. It can capture a partner, a household conversation, or something said in confidence with no awareness that a phone was listening.
For that reason nothing leaves the phone it was made on. There is no sign-in, the build carries no ad networks and no measurement SDKs, audio files are held back from device backups and protected by iOS file encryption, and one night or the entire diary can be erased whenever you decide.
Questions
Can an app record only when I talk in my sleep?
SleepMemo records through the night and keeps short clips around detected moments, then deletes the full-night file. A night where nothing happened keeps no audio.
Will it pick up my partner too?
A microphone hears the whole room. Anything audible near the phone can be captured, which is worth agreeing on with anyone else in the room before you record.
Are the speech labels reliable?
No. They are on-device suggestions that are often wrong, and you can correct or clear any of them.
Can I delete a night?
Yes. One night, or the entire diary, can be erased whenever you decide.
Before you rely on any of this
Sleep Recorder is a personal audio diary. It does not measure sleep quality and is not a medical device. It cannot diagnose sleep apnea, breathing disorders or any health condition, and its sound suggestions can be wrong. If you are worried about your sleep or your breathing, speak with a qualified clinician.
